The German Emissions Trading Authority

The German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) at the German Environment Agency (UBA) is the competent national authority for implementing the European Emissions Trading Scheme (EU ETS) and National Emissions Trading Scheme (nEHS). In addition, we are the point of contact for international climate protection projects and issues relating to the voluntary carbon market.

The EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS 1) operates on a market economy basis to reduce emissions of climate-damaging gases in Europe.
